Zeus’s Pawsitive World: Thanksgiving in New Jersey (Part 2)
Once Upon A Time…. It was Thanksgiving…
Hi Furiends,
Let’s continue where I left off. Now that I think of it, this may have been my first Thanksgiving with my family. Usually my mom goes to grandpa’s house, but leaves me at home because of all the people and the deep fried turkey in the oil outside. I’m so little so my mom thinks its safer for me to stay at home.
So here’s to my first Thanksgiving!!!
Thanksgiving was a blast with my brother and the rest of my family. I love hanging out with everyone and I love all the attention I get also, not to mention the endless amounts of socks that are given to be because I bark for them. What I love most about Thanksgiving is all the commotion, smells and new corners in grandma’s house to explore. The only downside is, that since I have no stairs in my house, I’m not very good at going up and down the stairs. Grandma’s house is split level, so I have to be picked up constantly. It’s a little tiring but I can handle it because I’m MIGHTY ZEUS!
Let’s get back to the commotion on Thanksgiving day. The day started out like any typical day. Snuggles with mom, potty time outside and a yummy breakfast. After the usual routine and more snuggles, I got dressed in my festive Thanksgiving sweater and started to doze off. Suddenly, I heard the doorbell ring and our first guests had arrived. Of course, I had to alert the family, so I barked as loud as I could. I did my round of begging for their socks, but they were sneaky and packed slippers so they were inaccessible. Soon I forgot about that because they were giving me all the snuggles and attention I could ask for. Then the doorbell rang again and our next guest arrived. At first, I wasn’t sure I remembered him, but then after he took off his hat and I sniffed him, I remembered he was cool. So, of course, I asked for his socks but he turned me down too.
Soon after, the rest of the guests arrived, including my cousins and my brother. I know that my cousins always give me their socks and it was just a matter of time for that to happen. I played with my brother and I also stole his food. What can I say, it was more delicious then what my mom packed me.
Then, in the distance, there was a timer going off, and a delicious waft of food filled the air. The turkey was done!!! Little by little, I could smell all different types of food, from mashed potatoes, stuffing and sweet potatoes. My brother and I ran to the oven to see if we could steal a bite of food that fell on the floor. They didn't drop anything though, so instead we just played with each other and hung out underneath the table hoping for food scraps.
After dinner, I did some more snuggles on my mom and eventually fell asleep. Soon, dessert was served and the guests slowly started to leave. I knew the party was over and now I could finally settle in, take off my Thanksgiving sweater and go to bed.
It was a fun filled adventurous day indeed.
Paws Out,
Zeus
