Zeus's Pawsitive World: White Christmas in New Jersey (Part 2)
Once Upon A Time... it was Christmas Day!
Hi Furiends,
I woke up on Christmas Eve finding out there was more snow on the ground. It wasn't that much snow, but still enough to cover all my paw prints from the day before. I woke my mom up, lazy bones sleeping in, and then we started our day. I was so excited to be awake to see Grandma and Papa Jay, that I could hardly contain myself. I made my usual rounds, greeting everyone with my wagging tail and wet kisses. It's fun to see the smile on their faces when I come downstairs. I mean, I'm so adorable, you're silly to not smile when you see this face.
Anyway, mom took me outside in that white stuff, but this time I didn't have the funny boots on. My mom, as usual, was recording or taking pictures of me walking around in the snow. Then I noticed she was taking pictures of my footprints and saying they were the cutest footprints she's ever seen. This woman is obsessed!
So, I left some more yellow snow, then went inside to eat my breakfast and get ready to make the road trip to my aunt's house. Mom packed my things, put on my Christmas sweater and then we were off. A few hours later, we arrived at my Aunt's house in Cherry Hill. I was pumped because that's where my baby brother, Parker, lives. My cousins live there too, so it's always a good time, plus my brother has the best food, and I eat all of it.
I jumped out of the car, and ran as fast as I could to the front door. The door opened and I greeted everyone with my usual happy wagging tail and wet kisses. Parker was barking and then we sniffed each other's butts and got reacquainted. I ran around the house, sniffing and remembering that I had been there before. The familiar smells and new smells got me excited and I knew it was going to be a great few days.
The rest of the guests started to arrive, as my mom brought up our belongings to the guest room. I sniffed and barked and stole Parker's food. Then, the cooking began and the house filled with the smell of delicious ham, cheese and other goodies.
The day continued, dinner was served for the humans, and I ate more of Parker's food. Everyone sat at the dinner table, talked about human things, while Parker and I played and ran around the house. I would sneak a piece of cheese here and there and Parker would have some treats.
Finally, it was time to open presents! That's my favorite part of Christmas! I love the wrapping paper, and ripping the paper, and chasing my brother around and of course the gifts. It's so fun watching the humans get excited about what gift is under the wrapping paper. I love sniffing through the bags and putting socks and toys inside the gift bags. Then, I like to bark for someone to grab them out of the nooks and crannies where I hid them.
It was a fun day for sure. The next few days, we got to hang out at my Aunt's house, playing with my brother and stealing more food. There was less snow on the ground, which made it easier to do my business. I made sure to let all the neighborhood dogs know that I was there and that my mom is awesome. Then, it was time to head back to Grandma's house and prepare for the trip back to Florida.
I needed to recover from all the smells, baby bro madness and cousins picking me up. I was exhausted and slept the last few days of our trip. Sunday came around, we woke up and I got ready to fly. I had a good breakfast of eggs, did my final potty stop, headed in the car to the airport. Soon, we were through securtiy, at the gate, inside the plane and off we flew. A few hours later, we landed back in the nice warm weather, called the Lyft driver and soon I was back and snuggled in my cozy house in my cozy bed.
It was a great holiday, a fun Christmas and I certainly loved the snow!!!
Paws Out,
Zeus
