Zeus’s Pawsitive World: White Christmas in New Jersey (Part 1)

Once Upon A Time…I saw snow for the first time!

Hi Furiends,

I’m so excited to share that I experienced my FIRST WHITE CHRISTMAS! Mom flew me up to New Jersey, as we always do, for Christmas, but this time it was even more special.

My journey north was my typical routine, big yummy breakfast of eggs and some YumPup, some yummy cream cheese about 3 hours before I fly. (I think there’s something in that cream cheese that makes me sleepy).. I was so excited to see Grandpa that I had a hard time eating my breakfast. I was a good boy and ate it all after he sat with me and hand fed me (hehe).  After breakfast, mom closed up the house and we got in the car. This time Grandpa drove us to the airport, which means I could stay outside of my carrier for a little longer and I could look out the window. We got to the airport, said our goodbyes, and headed in. It was MADNESS. I couldn’t believe the lines and the amount of people. I could tell my mom was getting nervous because everywhere we looked it was just people. Finally, it was our turn to check in. The nice lady was very helpful, and we were able to skip the bag drop line. Mom was nervous we’d miss our flight.

We arrived at the gate, shortly after we boarded, I was snug under the seat in my carrier with my Christmas sweater and blanket. Soon I fell asleep and then before I knew it we were in New Jersey!

We got out of the plane, I heard mom making a phone call to Grandma and then we collected our baggage and went outside. The blast of FREEZING air made me shiver. I have never felt cold like this before. Usually when we go north for Christmas, it’s not this cold. I can’t believe dogs live here, they are CRAZY.  My mom found the dog relief area where she proceeded to take me out of my cozy carrier. I noticed something white on the ground, and it smelled funny. I was a little bit worried at first, but I had to pee so bad that I just went with it. The white stuff, I later found out it’s call snow, was very cold and crunchy under my paws. I look up, and mom had her phone out and was recording me (as usual). I guess she was super excited that I was walking around in this stuff. She wanted to capture the moment my paws touched snow for the first time. It wasn’t so bad because there wasn’t too much of it.

I finished my business, chilled to the bone, and then I went back into my cozy carrier while mom was freezing in her jacket. Grandma took a bit to arrive, but then finally we were in the warm car and on the way to the house. We finally get to the house, and all the familiar smells came rushing back. I love it here. We hung out, I ate some more food and then it was time to go potty again.

My mom put on my ridiculous boots this time along with my coat. There she went again, taking out her phone and taking videos of me. Ok, there was more snow this time, so I wasn’t sure I really wanted to step on it. Plus, it was hard to smell the ground because this white stuff masked the scent. I didn’t really want to go, but then mom started running around and calling me. She looked cute, so I figured I’d play along. Slowly and cautiously, I put my booted paws in the snow and realized it wasn’t so bad. Soon I was making yellow snow all over the backyard.

It was so much fun running around in the snow, but having to put on my coat and booties every single time was a little much. I’m not used to having to put all of that stuff on just to go potty.

Stay tuned for Christmas Day festivities!! Part 2 coming soon.

Paws Out,

Zeus
